Microsoft launches $500 PC in India


Microsoft has partnered with AMD and launched another low cost PC in India. Beginning next month, Microsoft and its partners plan to start selling the IQ PC through computer retailers, bookshops and other stores in Bangalore and Pune, with plans to sell it throughout the country by November. Made by Zenith Computers the computers are built on AMD platform and are aimed at students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Priced at 21,000 Indian Rupees ($ 500) the PC's will be preloaded with Windows Vista Basic, Works 2007, Student 2007 and third party software which includes exam preparation, homework help and English-language learning programs.

AIRcable Host XR Bluetooth USB Adapter has a 30km Range


The biggest news about the new Bluetooth hub from AIRcable (professional installation) is that it has a 30km range. It has a 9dBi omni-directional antenna that provides a range of 2km and the 18dBi directional antenna offers a range of 10Km. It can extend the range of weaker Bluetooth devices like cell phones and headsets by hundreds of meters. Thanks to its high sensitivity and long-range it can extend the range of shorter-range Bluetooth devices up to 100 m. The AIRcable Host XR hooks on to any computer with a USB port and works with Windows, Mac and Linux supporting practically any Bluetooth profile available. The standard antenna that is included gives a 1Km range.

AIRcable Host XR Bluetooth USB Adapter has a 30km Range


The A696 ultra-slim GPS PDA from ASUS has been dubbed as a "power accessory". It offers full GPS functionality sans a jutting antenna and is housed in a stainless steel case that sports an anti-glare 3.5-inch touchscreen. It is 1.57cm slim and enjoys GPS support via Destinator Technologies' routing engine and navigation content. It features a QuickNav button that takes you directly to a predetermined address or POI. It also supports wireless capability ( 802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate that speeds up data exchange by up to two to three times over conventional Bluetooth. The flash memory stores the data plus the SD card slot takes care of the overload.

LG Muziq hits Sprint


The new Muziq from LG is the successor to Fusic and adds the spice to Sprints list. The Muziq integrates a FM transmitter that can send tuneage to any FM radio within ten feet. It also features stereo Bluetooth, a microSD slot supporting up to 4GB of expansion (a 64MB card comes with it), 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, PictBridge Support and "sideloded" DRM-free music via USB. The phone also provides a quick and easy access to Sprint-exclusive content like the Sprint Music Store and Sprint TV.

Samsung A717 and A727 HSDPA phones for the USA


Targeting the US 3G market Samsung has launched two HSDPA phones. The A717 is a 12.9mm thick clamshell and the A727 is a 9.9mm thick candy bar phone. Riding on the video revolution they adopt video sharing function for enhanced video transmission. They support speaker phone, Bluetooth connectivity and music download (WMDRM/MTP). No information on availability and pricing for now.

Sigma Japan has announced the 'Bluetooth Elysium' an ultra stylish Bluetooth keyboard. Featuring a metallic finish the keyboard has 106 keys and special keys for email, volume control and browser. It comes with a USB dongle which supports Bluetooth 2.0 so along with the keyboard you can connect your mobile phone, laptop and other Bluetooth devices. The keyboard is Windows compatible only and is powered by 4 x AA batteries
